At the base of the hill across from Universal City, Spitz does Mediterranean street food with a classic-rock vibe. The popular 'street cart döner' (shwarma) combines minced spiced beef, lamb or chicken (or a combo of all three) inside a lavash flatbread wrap with garlic aioli and lots of veggies. Meanwhile, 'street cart fries' come topped like a Greek salad.
Döners also come in salad or basket form. Take plenty of napkins: the food can be as messy as it is tasty. Wash it all down with cold beers on tap, sangria or Mediterranean-inflected micheladas (beer cocktails).
There's a shelf of board games, and sidewalk seating facing busy Cahuenga Blvd.
