Robbie’s covers all bases – it's a local flea market, tacky tourist shop, sea pen for tarpons (massive fish) and jump-off point for fishing expeditions, all wrapped into one driftwood-laced compound. Boat-rental and tour options are also available. The best reason to visit is to escape the mayhem and hire a kayak for a peaceful paddle through nearby mangroves, hammocks and lagoons.

You can also book a snorkeling trip ($36), which takes you out on a very smooth-riding Happy Cat vessel for a chance to bob amid coral reefs. If you don’t want to get on the water, you can feed the freakishly large tarpons from the dock ($4 per bucket, $2.26 to watch).
