Central to Livingston’s history since 1904, the Murray is the place to bed down with the ghosts of gunslinger Calamity Jane and director Sam Peckinpah (who lived in a suite for over a year, occasionally shooting holes in the ceiling). The hand-operated lift, original sinks and creaky wood floors set the tone, but the 25 rooms are fresh and modern.
The Peckinpah suite ($429) is a six-sleeper treat, but avoid the cheapest 2nd-floor rooms, as they pulsate with noise from the bar below until 2am (with live music on the weekends).
