Japanese in Honolulu

Look for the orange sign outside this long-standing izakaya near the University Ave and S King St corner, where staff shout their welcome (‘Irrashaimase!’) as you make your way to a tatami-mat booth. Sake fans come here to quench their thirsts, then graze their way through a seemingly endless menu of sushi and epicurean and country-style Japanese fare.

Reserve well in advance or stand in line for open seating after 7pm.
