Tour description provided by Viator

See three of the Big Island’s famous waterfalls — Hiilawe Falls, Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls — on this tour to the Waipio Valley and Hamakua Coast. Discover the island’s phenomenal natural beauty as you experience a variety of terrain. Learn about the history and legends of the island from a guide, swim at a private waterfall, and sample seasonal fruit and macadamia nuts at a fruit farm in Hilo. Lunch, snacks and hotel transport are included. This tour is limited to 13 people to provide a small-group experience.
After pickup from your hotel in the Kona or Kohala area, head toward Waipio Valley, traveling through Waimea, Parker Ranch and Honokaa. Before entering the valley, hop into a 4-wheel-drive vehicle that can handle the rugged terrain. Drive along the floor of Waipio Valley, admiring the lush surroundings and learning about the native vegetation and history of the valley from your knowledgeable guide. Traverse more of the landscape in your 4WD, crossing rivers and streams and passing by taro fields. Arrive at Hiilawe Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Hawaii, and then climb out of the valley to a scenic lookout point for breathtaking views. Next, head to Waipio Valley Lookout to enjoy spectacular views while enjoying your gourmet lunch which consists of Teriyaki Chicken, grilled fish, rice, and sweet purple potatos (vegetarian meals are available upon request). In the afternoon, continue the drive down the scenic Hamakua Coast and visit the towering Akaka Falls, which plummets 442 feet into a stream-eroded gorge. If weather permits, you will get to swim or kayak under a private waterfall to cool down after a short hike. In Hilo, our guide will take you on a tour of a tropical fruit farm as you sample seasonal fruit and fresh macadamia nuts at a private lookout overlooking world-famous Rainbow Falls.  The adventure ends with the return to Kona or Kohala Coast resorts via Saddle Road nestled between the world’s tallest sea mountain, Mauna Kea, and world’s most massive mountain.
