The legendary Nui (which made a cameo appearance in The Descendants) is a tiki dive bar with heart and history, and a rather tasty dinner menu. It's usually crowded from mid-afternoon onward, and can get rollicking nightly with live Hawaiian music. It's especially busy on weekends, when it’s the only place open past 10pm.
As far as food goes (mains $18 to $30), we love the seared ahi with wasabi cream and purple sweet potatoes, and the pizzas get rave reviews. On Wednesday nights, the luau (per adult/child $75/45) is a modest all-you-can-eat dinner show. For luau reservations, call 808-482-4829.
