Measuring more than 11 miles each way, this mountain-bike ride presents challenging steep climbs, deep ruts and even deeper puddles (bike-tire deep) before finishing near Wailua's Keahua Arboretum. The scenery doesn’t measure up to the sheer audacious wild beauty of other island trails, however. The trail starts about 2 miles down Kepaka St, the road to Princeville Stables.

Look for the Na Ala Hele trailhead sign just past an obvious water tank, where the road turns to red dirt.
