Bicycle rental and tours. Reserve in advance online or by phone; with the exception of the peak stretch from June through mid-August, however, walk-ins can usually be accommodated. Helmets included, add-on pull-along trailer options available. The recommended seasonal two-hour Hermit Shuttle Package (adult/child $34/25) shuttles riders from the shop to Hopi Point, and picks them up at Hermits Rest.

This allows you to avoid the traffic of busy Grand Canyon Village and the initial Hermit Rd incline so you can focus your time and energy on a leisurely and mostly flat 5.5-mile cruise along Hermit Rd's most beautiful stretch of canyon overlooks.

For folks with limited time or small children, the Orange Route is a moderate ride that heads east on a 7-mile round-trip from Bright Angel Bicycles to the South Kaibab Trailhead and Yaki Point. It's a lovely winding cruise through the piñon, past some canyon-view picnic spots and spectacular overlooks. The only traffic is the short stretch between South Kaibab Trailhead and Yaki Point, where you share the road with Yaki Point Rd shuttles.

Guided tours of Yaki Point (adult/child $52/42) or Hermit Road (adult/child $62/47) are offered seasonally multiple times daily.

The bike rental also serves as one of the South Rim's best cafe options for grab-and-go breakfast burritos, sandwiches, snacks and coffee.
