A bright star among the Cape's stellar bike trails, this 10.7-mile beaut runs along the entire west coast of Falmouth, from County Rd in North Falmouth to Woods Hole ferry terminal, offering unspoiled views of salt ponds, marsh and seascapes. Completed in 2009, the bikeway follows an abandoned railroad bed, taking you places you'd never get a glimpse of otherwise.

To add in a swim, find the ocean beach on the section between Falmouth center and Woods Hole, off Surf Dr. The entire route is flat, making it well suited for a family outing. A number of places around town rent bikes, including kids' bikes.
