An easy-breezy international scene make this place regularly full in summer. Billie’s has typical hostel amenities such as showers, laundry and kitchen, but it also offers nice touches such as a mosquito-netted communal tent for campers and free use of bicycles.
The hostel is off the MACS Red Line and not far from the university. From College Rd turn right on Westwood Ave and walk one block south.
We are happy to accommodate late-night check-ins, but we ask that you let us know the time of day that you expect to check-in by adding it to your booking or request message to us. If you are planning to check in between the hours of midnight and 7am, please be sure that you are booking the prior day as the first day of your request or booking with us. We want to ensure that we will have your bed or your room ready for you.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed; but please note that Billie has a pet pug dog named Franky. He is allowed into the hostel for SHORT visits on occasion. If you do not like small dogs, this may not be a comfortable place for you.
Open YEAR-ROUND and with NO CURFEW, Billie’s is the perfect place to relax; to mingle with other world travelers; to use as a start or end point for your Alaskan adventure; or to simply linger and enjoy our midnight sun of Summer or our northern lights of Winter.
Primarily, we offer dormitory beds –with usually no more than 4 people to a room. Most of our dorm beds are in the main part of our home. Our glass Gazebo dorm is available only during the summer (no heating) and it can accommodate up to 6 people. Gazebo guests must walk the few steps to the house to use the kitchen and main common area.
We make every effort to separate the sexes, but during our busy summer months the arrangement may be CO-ED. All guests share bathrooms and common areas like our kitchen, dining spaces and hostel grounds.
We also offer private rooms, long-term stays, tent space and some other unique accommodations. Contact Billie directly to inquire about these.
Billie’s is ideally located within walking distance of the University of Alaska main campus, many shops, pubs, restaurants, bike trails and much more. After a short taxi ride from the airport or the train terminal, once here you can easily get around Fairbanks with access provided by our city bus – which stops just one block away from the hostel. We are also the main stop for shuttles that run from and between Fairbanks and Anchorage, Denali, Yukon and Arctic Circle/Prudhoe Bay. Most taxi and shuttle drivers know us: just ask them let you off at Billie’s! (See our website for more information on transportation.)
When you stay with us, we will provide you with:
•FREE WI-FI access
•FREE Bike use with locks (when available and at own risk)
•FREE Hot Showers (NOT coin-op)
•FREE Phone (for local calls)
•Maps, books and info
•Barbecue and picnic facilities
•Coin Op Laundry
Please note that while pets are not allowed, Billie does have a pet pug named “Franky” that likes to greet and mingle with guests in common areas; but he is not allowed in any of the sleeping areas.
Billie's Backpackers Hostel is a wonderfully warm, welcoming and accommodating place. You won't find a more comfortable, friendly hostel anywhere.
