Loveland Ski Area

Snow Sports in Loveland Pass

One of Colorado's older ski resorts (opened 1943), Loveland may be smaller than its neighbors, but its old-school vibe, wide-open runs, cheaper lift tickets and proximity to Denver (53 miles) guarantee enduring popularity. With a base elevation of 10,800ft, much of the terrain is above the treeline, meaning gorgeous views when the sun shines but bitterly cold winds in bad weather.

To ski off the Continental Divide, take Chair 9 up to 12,700ft – from here you can then catch a ride on the free Ridge Cat (pick up your pass first at the base) along the ridge to Loveland's high point. Access is via I-70 (exit 216).
