Fort Collins is unassuming, direct, free-loving and gorgeous. The core downtown areas feature a world-class university campus, raucous nightlife, playful Victorian houses and tree-bordered avenues, a restaurant pedestrian zone, more brewpubs than you can possibly visit in a week, and a delightfully chilled air that feels unpretentious, honest and just about as open as you can get.
Just outside of town, you'll find mountain adventures in the Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, Lory State Park and along the Cache la Poudre River.
People often compare Fort Collins with Colorado's other favorite college town, Boulder. This former farming community doesn't have all the glitz of Boulder, but it's probably got more heart and soul…and that's just about right.
