Smyth

American in West Loop & Near West Side

Smyth is a homey spot that's bagged a pair of Michelin stars for its seasonal tasting menus. Prepare to spend two to three hours making your way through five to 12 courses of elevated comfort food, say biscuits with ramp honey or lamb with juniper. Ingredients come from Smyth's partner farm, located about an hour south of the city. Reservations required.

Smyth is upstairs. The chef-owners also operate the casual, pub-like Loyalist in the basement. It's hailed for its burger, a fat patty with American cheese and pickled cucumbers on a toasted sesame seed bun, and its desserts, such as the hazelnut praline puff.
