Prefer wheels to white water? Check out the mountain-and-river scenery of southeastern Tennessee on this exhilarating 26-mile drive, the first-ever byway in a national forest. Along the way there are swimming areas, rocky bluffs and woodsy trails leading to waterfalls. Forest Rd 77 passes several scenic overlooks with bird's-eye views of the river and the Tennessee Valley.

The byway stretches from the western edge of the forest east along US 64 to Ducktown, with a 7-mile scenic spur up Forest Rd 77/Oswald Dome Rd to Chilhowee Recreation Area and the trail to Benton Falls.
