Geology Tour Rd information
On this 18-mile backcountry drive around Pleasant Valley, the forces of erosion, earthquakes and ancient volcanoes have played out in stunning splendor. There are 16 markers along the route – pick up a self-guided interpretive brochure and an update on road conditions at any park visitor center.
Passenger cars can usually handle the first 5 miles, but beyond Squaw Tank (marker 9) a 4WD is necessary. Pick up the road on Park Blvd about 2 miles west of Jumbo Rock campground.
