Lake Crescent is a picturesque glacier-fed lake surrounded by a stunning forested mountain range. Just 35 minutes West of Port Angeles, Lake Crescent is one of the most accessible Olympic National Park icons and its close proximity maximizes our time exploring its beauty in the outdoors. Our 4 hour group tour will begin with exploring the initial viewpoints from the Lake Crescent Lodge and its well-positioned dock. Then our tour group will head into the old-growth temperate forest for a 2 mile roundtrip hike to the 90 foot tall Marymere Falls.
Visit: Olympic Hiking Co., Port Angeles, Clallam County, WashingtonThe tour begins with a beautiful 35 minute van tour from the Port Angeles waterfront into the Olympic National Park boundary at Lake Crescent. During the drive, our group will enjoy stunning views of the glacier-fed lake, surrounding mountains, and crystal clear waters. Upon arrival, guests will have 20-30 minutes for lunch, visit the historic Lake Crescent Lodge, and explore nearby viewing areas of the lake. We have picnic lunches available for purchase, otherwise, the Lodge has a restaurant and gift shop with light snacks. The lake is certainly impressive, however, Lake Crescent also provides access to scenic hiking trails within its own old growth forest. After lunch, our Olympic Hiking Co. guide will lead a 60-90 minute guided tour through the evergreen forest to reach Marymere Falls, a beautiful 90 foot waterfall. The hike (about 2 miles roundtrip) is primarily flat, well-maintained, however, there is a set of nature stairs to reach the viewpoints of the falls, gaining 200 feet elevation. If time permits, we may explore additional hiking trails or visit other nearby destinations. Our guests can participate in the guided tour or simply explore Lake Crescent on their own.Throughout this tour, our Olympic Hiking Co. guide will identify landmarks, flora and fauna, and discuss the natural history of Olympic National Park. Overall, we expect to spend approximately 2 hours at Lake Crescent pending road and weather conditions.
