Greenway Trail

Cycling in Grand Canyon National Park South Rim

A multi-use trail open to cyclists and hikers. From Monument Creek Vista 2.8 miles west to Hermits Rest and from the Visitor Center Plaza 2.5 miles east to the South Kaibab Trailhead, the Greenway Trail and the Rim Trail are the same thing. These paved stretches wind gently through piñon-dotted landscape and offer several lovely picnic spots and excellent views.

You can rent bikes, including trailers for little ones, at Bright Angel Bicycles. From here, the ride to the South Kaibab Trailhead is especially nice for families, as it is easily accessible from the visitor center and does not include any steep inclines.

Beyond that, the Greenway Trail is less a scenic bike ride than a convenient bike path through and around Grand Canyon Village and up to the Visitor Center. You can also ride along the Greenway Trail from Visitor Center Plaza 6.6 miles south to the IMAX in Tusayan, but the final 4 miles are not paved. South Rim shuttle buses can accommodate bicycles.
