Where to Stay

Al Bateen & Al Mushrif

For

Resort-style breaks (with no beach) in the Eastern Mangroves. Good-value business-brisk hotels in Al Wahda.

Against

Hotels spread throughout a wide area. Transport necessary to most places.

Al Mina & Saadiyat Island

For

Peaceful beach bliss. Where you come for full-facility resorts.

Against

Only a handful of options. Taxis necessary when heading out.

Al Zahiyah & Al Maryah Island

For

Some of the cheapest digs in town in Al Zahiyah. Luxury in Al Maryah. Easy access to Downtown. Plenty of eating and drinking choices. Good for walkers and public transport.

Against

Al Zahiyah can be too noisy for some. Many budget Al Zahiyah options have questionable decor tastes and tired furnishings.

Downtown

For

Central city location. Lots of dining and nightlife within walking distance. Good for budget and low-end midrange options. Excellent local life.

Against

Noisy and always bustling.

Marina Breakwater

For

Great hotel room views. Easy access to plenty of sights, restaurants and nightlife. Mostly high-end options. Abu Dhabi's most iconic hotels are here.

Against

Look elsewhere for budget.

Sheikh Zayed Mosque Area

For

Views of the mosque. Full-facility beach resorts on the shoreline with good restaurant and bar options. Peaceful and family-friendly.

Against

Super busy on weekends. Not a good choice if you want to fully explore the sights unless you don't mind a lot of time spent travelling.

Yas Island

For

Marina views. Just a handful of options, many popular with the business conference crowd. Yas Shuttle allows for quick access to Yas Beach, theme parks and Yas Mall.

Against

Isolated from the city. Transport necessary to go anywhere. Some hotels not great value for what you get.
