Orientation

The city of Abu Dhabi occupies an island connected to the mainland by three bridges: Sheikh Zayed Bridge, linking Hwy E10 (Abu Dhabi–Dubai Rd) with Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan St, which culminates in an eponymous 4.2km-long tunnel in the city centre; Al Maqta Bridge, which connects Hwy E22 (Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Rd) and Hwy E20 (Airport Rd) with Rashid Bin Saeed (2nd) St; and Mussafah Bridge, which links Hwys E20 and E22 with Al Khaleej Al Arabi (30th) St. All main roads run through the Abu Dhabi city centre and culminate at the Corniche.

The airport is about 30km east of the Corniche, close to Yas Island, which is accessed by Hwy E12 (Sheikh Khalifa Hwy) and continues to Saadiyat Island to eventually link up with the Corniche via Sheikh Khalifa Bridge.
