Owner Ivan Kozma rents out three rooms in a typical Vylkove house – made of reed and clay, with a Russian-style brick oven in the centre and layers of seashells in the foundation to absorb floodwater. The garden is criss-crossed by canals, where Ivan keeps his boats, and the Danube is metres away, accessed via a small bridge.
Ivan's wife, Larissa, cooks delicious Bessarabian food and Ivan runs tours of the village and the delta. Each tour involves visits to private households and gardens on islands that form a part of Vylkove. Expect to consume lots of novak wine.
