Welcome to Yenice
Yenice is an adorable district 35km west of Karabük, surrounded by the breathtaking Yenice Forest. One of Turkey's most accessible wilderness areas, three national parks (Çitdere Nature Reserve, Kavaklı Nature Reserve and Gökpınar Site Arboretum) converge here, containing an array of flora and fauna. The 396km of walking trails have been mapped and waymarked taking in sublime meadowlands, hill country, and lush forest edged by the Şeker Canyon. Yenice has an excellent hiking guidebook with detailed information on walks and cycling routes within the area. It is increasingly difficult to find these days, but the English version can be downloaded at www.yenice.gov.tr/yenice-book. Safranbolu's tourist office also have a copy that they allow travellers to borrow for the day.
