İzmir's Adnan Menderes Airport is the closest airport, and is serviced by many domestic and international airlines.

Transport Options

There are a number of options for getting to or from İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport.

Shuttle Havaş runs a shuttle bus to/from Kuşadası (₺26, 13 daily) that stops in front of Selçuk's hospital en route; this leaves the airport between 1.30am and 11pm daily.

Taxi Expect to pay around ₺130.

Train The simplest and cheapest public-transport option to the airport is the 90-minute train journey (₺6.50). There are eight daily departures but as services are not punctual, you should aim to catch a train leaving Selçuk at least two hours before you are due to check in. Passengers are not assigned a seat and you may have to stand. Also note that the train’s airport stop is a 15- to 20-minute walk from the departures terminal.

Ankara (₺85, eight hours) Four services daily on Metro ( and Kamil Koç (

Bodrum (₺30, three hours) Metro has two daily departures in summer. In winter, you must change in Kuşadası and Aydın.

Bursa (₺68, six hours, nine daily). On Metro.

Göreme (₺72, 101/2 hours) One daily service on Kamil Koç, departing in the evening.

Denizli (₺35, three hours) For Pamukkale and coastal destinations such as Fethiye and Antalya. Metro has two departures year-round, with additional Pamukkale services in summer.

Fethiye (₺50, 51/2 hours) One daily on Pamukkale (

İstanbul (₺90-100, nine hours) Metro has one daily express departure in the morning and another via Bursa in the afternoon.

İzmir (₺12, one hour) Dolmuşes every 40 minutes from 6.30am to 8.30pm (to 6pm in winter).

Kuşadası (₺6, 25 minutes) Dolmuşes every 30 minutes from 6.30am to midnight (to 7pm in winter). Via Pamucak (₺3.50, 10 minutes).

Pamukkale (₺30, three hours) Three direct services on Pamukkale. Otherwise, change in Denizli.


There are six express trains per day to/from İzmir's Basmane Garı (₺6.50, 1½ hours) between 7.45am and 6.25pm, via the airport. These travel on to Denizli.

From central İzmir, the İzban metro runs to Cumaovası, south of the city, where passengers can connect with services to Tepeköy near Selçuk and then the train to Selçuk (₺5.20). There are plans to extend the metro line to Selçuk. The metro trips cost ₺2.60 on a Kent Kart.
