Basta Street Food Bar

Turkish in Kadıköy

Grabbing a dürüm (grilled meat in a lavash flatbread wrap) on the go in Istanbul is a quick way to refuel, but at Basta, it’s so much more. Young chefs Kaan Sakarya and Derin Arıbaş bring fine-dining training to this humble street food, crafting combinations such as slow-cooked lamb belly with harissa and grilled onions, or lamb sausage with hummus.

Wash your meal down with a bracing şalgam (pickled carrot and turnip juice) or soothing ayran (salted yoghurt drink), and don’t forget to save room for Basta’s luscious take on sütlaç (rice pudding) for dessert.
