Bus & Dolmuş
Edirne's otogar (bus station) is 9km southeast of the centre on the access road to the E80. An hourly free servis (service) bus provides free transfers between the otogar and merkez (town centre) for ticketed passengers. From Edirne, the service bus departs from the bus stop on Talat Paşa Caddesi, opposite the tourist office. Alternatively, bus nos 1, 3, 3A and 3BA travel between the otogar and merkez. A ticket costs ₺2.75 and can be purchased on board the bus. A taxi between the otogar and the city centre costs around ₺30.
Dolmuşes service the city and also travel to the Bulgarian and Greek borders. Trips cost ₺2.75.
Çanakkale (₺50 to ₺55, four hours) At least four buses daily on Truva (www.truvaturizm.com).
İstanbul (₺40 to ₺50, 2¾ hours) Frequent buses to the Büyük Otogar in Esenler on Metro and Nilüfer. Demand is high, so book ahead.
Kapıkule (₺2.75, 25 minutes) Dolmuşes run to this Bulgarian border crossing, 18km northwest, from a stop near the Şekerbank branch opposite the tourist office on Talat Paşa Caddesi.
Pazarkule The nearest Greek border post is 9km southwest of Edirne. Catch a dolmuş to Karaağac (₺2.75, 15 minutes) from the stop on the southern side of Talat Paşa Caddesi near the tourist office and tell the driver that you want to go to Pazarkule.
Sofia, Bulgaria (₺84, 5½ to 6½ hours) Five services daily on Metro Turizm (www.metroturizm.com.tr).
Edirne train station is 4km southeast of the Eski Cami and is known as Kapıkule in schedules. However, there are no useful passenger services. Occasional car trains between İstanbul and Vienna stop in Edirne en route, but don't take foot passengers.
