Welcome to Belkıs-Zeugma
In modern times, much of the remains of the city disappeared under the waters of the Birecik Dam, and the most interesting mosaics are now on display in Gaziantep. At the original site, a modern pavillion on the shores of the Euphrates shelters the remains of the Roman villas of Dionysos and Danae. Kitchens, latrines and spacious rooms are all evident – along with more mosaics in situ.
The site is about 50km from Gaziantep and 8km east of Nizip, off the main road to Şanlıurfa. (It's signposted from the village of Dutlu). There is no public transport, so you'll need to rent a car or consider a tour with Arsan in Gaziantep.
