Seafood is fresh and plentiful in Sfax, and is particularly tasty when prepared à la Sfaxienne (baked with tomatoes, onions, peppers, garlic and capers).

There are plenty of restaurants in Centre Ville. In the medina, there's a cluster of cheap restaurants on the right just inside Bab Diwan. Most are signed only in Arabic and are very popular, with locals chowing down on rotisserie chicken and couscous.
