Hammamet is all about its beaches. The waterfront hotels have sliced off their own sections of private golden sand, but there are still huge stretches of public coast if you're staying inland instead. The best open-to-all beaches are in Hammamet's centre, stretching out from either side of the medina, from Resto La Plage in the west to the manicured park across the street from Maison des Jeunes in the east.

The seafront where Hammamet Nord seamlessly blends into Nabeul is also well worth spreading your towel on. If you prefer your waterfronts wild, head south of Yasmine Hammamet; the final wall of Hasdrubal Thalassa is where development comes to an end and nature takes over.
