The Caroni Bird Sanctuary, renowned among ornithologists, is a mangrove swamp covering an area of 40 square miles (103 square kilometers). This 3.5-hour tour features a guided small-group boat excursion through the swamp, which reveals a multitude of birds including its most famous resident, the scarlet ibis, which is the national bird of Trinidad. This dramatic flame-colored bird arrives each day around 5pm to feed at dusk and roost in the mangrove trees and the tour timed to witness its arrival.

You will visit a charming tree shaded square where much of our diaspora pass through on a daily basis.Your 4-hour experience will also take you to the uptown part of the city where you will see glorious architecture from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, from the days when cocoa was king!
