Welcome to Castara
About an hour's drive from Crown Point, Castara is a pretty fishing village on the north coast that's popular with tourists who want to experience Tobago away from the inundated southwest scene. People love the wide, sandy beaches, relaxed atmosphere and picturesque setting, and the village is is a good base for a variety of tours and activities. Uniquely in Tobago, Castara has a real sense of tourism coexisting with village life, with visitors queuing up to buy bread and cakes from the clay oven just back from the main beach (order early on a Wednesday morning), or helping fishers pull in seine nets on Big Bay. The Castara Tourism Development Association is a true community effort, pulling together local businesses to beautify the village and promote sustainable tourism.
