On the way to the Asa Wright Nature Centre, a lodge and birding station with a beautiful verandah overlooking the arima valley, this tour will pass the majestic Northern Range Mountain. The drive goes along a narrow road through the mountains during which guides will point out interesting plants and fruit trees. At the Centre, you'll view an incredible amount of different species of tropical birds from the same location. Hummingbirds feed from the containers hanging right in front of you, staying long enough for you to take some fantastic photographs. There’s a 1.5 hour guided walk through the rainforest where you see Agoutis, Tegu Lizards, and many other birds and also a fresh water pool for bathing.

The AWNC is a “Not-for-Profit” Trust established in 1967 by a group of naturalists and bird-watchers to “protect part of the Arima Valley in a natural state and to create a conservation and study area for the protection of wildlife and for the enjoyment of all.” It was one of the first nature centres to be established in the Caribbean.
