What to Take

  • Unlocked phone for local SIM card
  • Mosquito repellent and sunscreen – both expensive to buy in Dili
  • A mosquito net
  • Snorkel set
  • Decent shoes for hiking
  • A poncho for rainy mountain hikes

What to Wear

It's advisable to dress modestly. To protect from the sun, pale coloured, lightweight clothes are best, ideally with long sleeves and legs to help avoid mosquito bites. A sun hat and sunglasses are vital. Closed-toe shoes are best for rural paths.
