Just looking at some flights to Luang Prabang. One of the options is a 9 hour stopover in Hanoi. Arrive at 9:45am on a Friday then leave at 7pm. Is this enough time to see a bit of Hanoi, i.e. a meal, a bit of a walkabout, take some photo's etc.? Or should I just try and get a shorter stopover and stay at the airport?
I am a 29-year old male working in Vietnam for 3 months, but of course also wanting to see a bit more of the country while I'm here :). I would like to take a 1 or 2 day tour to Cuc Phuong national park from Hanoi, do some trekking, visit the primate centre and maybe do some cycling in the area to some other attractions (Kenh Ga, etc.). Anyone willing to join? Preferably in or around a weekend. Let me know!
I just used a BIDV ATM and was charged 120,000 plus 12k tax, the fees were not even displayed until after the transaction was approved. Does anyone else find this practise highly dishonest? The ATM gave me 4 million dong.
Anyway can you share which ATMs you have used and what the fee and withdrawal limit were.
Traveling with my daughter on a trip from Sapa to Sin Ho to check out the weekend market. To make a long story short my wife doesn't want me renting motorcycles to do this trip from Sapa as I am traveling with my 16-year old daughter. We have a car w/driver to get to Sin Ho. Once we get to Sin Ho I may be interested in Moto rental for a half day to check out some villages in the region. Anyone rent or know of rentals in Sin Ho?
Now, tickets from HK to Vietnam were really expensive but I found a pretty good deal which now allows me to go from HK to Da Nang. I have a lot of time (13 days) to either go from Da Nang to Hanoi or to Ho Chi Minh and now I would like to have a word of advice since this is my first time going to Vietnam (on my own, as well).

Hi everyone! My name is Linh Le. I'm 19 years old, and I'm currently going to school in New Hampshire, United States. I'm originally from Hanoi, Vietnam. I have seen many foreigners visiting Hanoi every time I go home, which makes me really happy. However, I hate seeing tourists get treat 'differently'.They are usually get charged twice the actual price, just because they come from another countries. It's annoying to see people taking advantages from tourists. I'd love to help with understanding…
We are traveling to Vietnam for the first time. Please recommend children/youth/young adult books (fiction/fantasy) about Vietnam. I'm trying to get my son, who is an avid reader, to psych up about exploring Vietnam, and get familiar about the history , culture and language in Vietnam. He's into Eragon, Percy Jackson type of series.
Hi - I'm applying for a Vietnamese visa for myself and my boyfriend (UAE and UK citizens respectively) which cost $17 each, first. That sounded fine, but they are now asking for an additional $108 for my application because the UAE is classified as a 'hard to get' visa.
http://www.vietnamvisa.govt.vn is the website I'm using.
Before I fork out the money, any red flags? :) THANK YOU x
