I'm flying into Henry Coanda at 1pm and was intending to travel by bus to Vala Veche but have no idea how to!
Can one of you lovely people give me some advice please?
In first half of July we'll be driving in a standard car, not pulling any trailers, from Szeged, HU to Sibiu, RO, and presumably encounter the border crossing at Arad, RO. Later, leaving Romania, we'll be driving from Cluj-Napoca to Debrecen, but I'm not exactly sure which route(perhaps via Sacueni) and which border crossing back into Hungary that will be. Does anyone have any tips, information or hints on what those border crossings might be like, such as long waits, what best time would be to…
I will be at the first half of May in Maramures and I would like to visit a fair or a traditional livestock (animal)/flea market in the villages of the region. I have read about one in Bogdan Voda (First and second Monday of each month) and another one in Somcuta Mare (Every Monday), but there are more and I am not sure about the days. Can anyone confirm that the days are truly these ones for these two markets? Moreover, anybody knows which is the most alive one, especially with horses…
Our plan is upon arrival at OTP airport, to pick up our hire car and overnight then in Sinaia. we really want to hike from Busteni across the mountains overnighting at Cabana Omu and on to Bran castle. our problem is what to do with our hire car. my thoughts are if we drive to Brasov on day 2 and overnight there (and also to leave hire…
I know there are a fair few threads on this topic but recently I read that the frequency from a daily service to a 3 day a week schedule was created effective immediately.
Does anyone know the exact days that will be in the new schedule - there isnt anything on the internet showing new changes on a timetable and i am tossing up between a hr flight with TAROM for £83 or get the overnight train in the 2 bed sleeper.
What to do, what to do!
any locals can you help pleaes?
Hallo fellow travelers,
My wife and I (34y old) are planning to visit Romania for 16 days in august, we like hikes (not trekking, wild camping etc), cultural monuments, scenic cities and alternative music, culture etc. Our trip will start with 4 nights on self guided tour hiking in Bucegi / piatra craiului national park. From then on we will rent a car and here's what we thought :
2 days Brasov
3 days Sibiu (Ideas for nice hikes, small villages close to Sibiu, alternative music bars?)
Reading James Roberts' Cicerone guide, it seems that there's a fair risk of being attacked by large sheep dogs in the mountains, the dogs being there to guard the flocks from bears, wolves etc. Humans are seen as just another threat; 'the dogs know how to kill and they're very good at it', he writes! He adds that he's been badly bitten several times - and there's the added threat of rabies.
This sounds pretty unpleasant. I'm thinking of a 3 week trek, probably on my own, but really don't…
