Zhangmu checkpoint operating hours

I have just been told the operating times for the checkpoint at Zhangmu is somehwat unpredictable. Not so much to worry about the Nepal side, as I had feared in my earlier post.

Think I will be arriving Zhangmu around 12 mid-day on a Sunday.

How does it work at Zhangmu? What are the operating hours like?

I can't recall the open time but it is something like 9am. It closes briefly around lunch time and the closes in the evening at 6pm. It is not unpredictable - just check the opening times with your guide then make sure you're their nice and early to avoid any dramas! (sometimes the queue can be quite long)
