Zanzibar or the Red Sea in late March/April?Interest forums / Diving & Snorkelling
Hi TTers, Torn between heading to the Red Sea (likely a liveaboard off Hurghada) or trying my chances in Zanzibar to catch any whale shark/manta sightings. For those who know Zanzibar (northern sites) - I know it's rainy season but enough rain to put a damper on a trip? How's visibility? Red Sea - have done Dahab many, many times and would like to venture out south on a liveaboard. Any suggestions on a route and must see sites welcome! Cheers all.
I have dived extensively in the Red Sea but only a couple of days from Zanzibar so can only really give advice on the former. Last April my partner and I went on a Blue 0 Two liveaboard to the deep south hitting St Johns Reef and Returning via Elphinstone, we were lucky with the weather (I would leave it as late in April as possible) and really pleased with the value for money offered by the trip over all. The crew were good the boat and food were both fantastic and the diving was great with something for everyone...almost, we missed out on any big paleagics but at this time of year it can be hit and miss. I think they have a sharks conservation trip at the end of April if thats your thing that does a slightly different itinerary. | 1
