yellow fever

Hello there,
going to Ethiopia at the end of July..
some say that the yellow fever shot it's not required and not asked when entering.
do you know if this si true?
also...for people over 60 it is said that side symptoms are bad...
did you hear about this?

BUT if by chance u were going on to Kenya or South Africa they want it

Ethiopia requires a certificate if you are arriving directly from a country with risk of yellow fever or if you have been in transit in an airport in an infected area for more than 12 hours.

Immunization is recommended for your own protection.

Italy will not require a certificate on your return.

Hello Kikkotta,
I travel back and forth every couple of weeks and they usually don't ask, but you never know. Things here are rather erratic. Having one is definitely better.

The WHO Vaccination book which includes proof of yellow fever shot with a stamp is not requested as we enter the country through Bole International Airport. Check CDC site for side effects from the injection for those 60 and older.
