Xining to Yushu

I am planning on renting a 4wd in Xining and driving to Yushu, leaving around 5th September. After reading other posts, this will give more flexibility and opportunities to stop at scenic spots. I am currently travelling with my brother so there is space for 2 more if anyone is interested?
