I wonder how much money selling their beer down there. They must break even. Anyone know?
If you hustle you can make some cash. I had a couple of roommates back in the day who worked Wreck (long enough ago that the ladies behind Zizanie were working the beach as well). | 1
I don't think it's an easy way to make money. Getting the beer down there and keeping it cold would be a lot of work unless they had a boat, but then that adds to the overhead. Also they risk having the beer confiscated and the hassle of guarding their inventory. | 2
I haven't been there for about 5 or 6 years, but last time I was there they were charging about double the cost at the liquor store, and much less than the price at a bar. So in other words they were making perhaps almost $2/beer profit. Considering they probably sell over 100 beer a day it's not a bad profit. Yeah lugging the cases down is a pain, but not that bad. They also carry down a big cooler filled with ice to keep it cold. Seemed to be a good gig when I saw it. | 3
I just quit going when the number of vendors started outnumbering the sunbathers around 1990. | 4
me and my friends decided that that would be a good business thing and tried selling beer on wreck beach about 15 years ago. | 5
