Hi Everyone, Edited by: brodiem
Thanks, Brodiem...I had no idea this museum existed... | 1
Great little Jewish bakery around there too. | 2
You could be right #3, I haven't been there in donkeys' years! | 3
Regarding the "Jewish bakery"...I haven't been there in donkeys' years! Maybe it went the same way as the old Swastika Laundry... | 4
LOL #5 I'm still amazed that they got away with that for so long! | 5
LOL #5 I'm still amazed that they got away with that for so long! Right into the mid-60s, I believe...their vans with the logo/emblem were a well-known feature of the Dublin landscape... Ireland remained a very sheltered and insular place because of WW2 neutrality...would have been unthinkable in most other places, no doubt... Btw Dandelion, I'm sure this correspondence is a mystery to any non-Irish reading...and maybe even a few Irish ones!... | 6
Right into the mid-60s, I believe Longer than that even. There's a Swastika Laundry van clearly visible in the photos from the wreckage of the Dublin bombings in 1974. I remember seeing that in one of the books about the bombings. | 7
By gum, Dandelion, I didn't realise they were still on the go at that stage...will have to keep an eye out for those photos...thank you for this interesting info... | 8
The jewish museum in Budapest is quite interesting as well, as well as the whole Grand Synagogue complex http://jewish.hu/view.php?clabel=turak | 9
