Wonderful Irish Jewish Museum in Dublin

Country forums / UK & Ireland / Ireland

Hi Everyone,
I was just in Dublin found out about this fascinating little Irish Jewish Museum. The website is: http://www.jewishireland.org/museum.html
Whether you are jewish or not, I would whole heartedly recommend this if you are going to be in Dublin. By the way, the blog The Camel Ate My Homework (http://thecamelatemyhomework.tumblr.com/) wrote a review on it.

Thanks, Brodiem...I had no idea this museum existed...

Great little Jewish bakery around there too.

You could be right #3, I haven't been there in donkeys' years!

Regarding the "Jewish bakery"...I haven't been there in donkeys' years!

Maybe it went the same way as the old Swastika Laundry...

LOL #5 I'm still amazed that they got away with that for so long!

Right into the mid-60s, I believe...their vans with the logo/emblem were a well-known feature of the Dublin landscape...

Ireland remained a very sheltered and insular place because of WW2 neutrality...would have been unthinkable in most other places, no doubt...

Btw Dandelion, I'm sure this correspondence is a mystery to any non-Irish reading...and maybe even a few Irish ones!...

Longer than that even. There's a Swastika Laundry van clearly visible in the photos from the wreckage of the Dublin bombings in 1974. I remember seeing that in one of the books about the bombings.

By gum, Dandelion, I didn't realise they were still on the go at that stage...will have to keep an eye out for those photos...thank you for this interesting info...
