Will There be large numbers of Refugees on Crete, Rhodes and Cyprus ?Country forums / Western Europe / Greece
I know it sounds unkind, but I do not want to be confronted with hordes of refugees on my holiday.
What reports have you been reading? The islands which have problems are on the Aegean coast of Greece and have been greatly exaggerated. | 1
BBC, Fox, on line news reports and my Government & agency sources. | 2
Don't worry, it would be extremely difficult to find refugees on the Islands you mention. Kos, Chios and Lesbos have some problems, but more than 99 per cent of all tourists there don't realize them. | 3
Refugee presence is limited to very few islands along Turkish coast. As good as nonexistent in Cyclades. Only one instance of refugees I know of on Crete and that involved a boat from N. Africa in the springtime. In fact, they 'landed' on Gavdos, then brought to Crete by ferry and immediately bussed away. I can't recall reading any reports about Cyprus. That wouldn't be practical as a refugee destination anyway. Where could they go from there? | 4
