wild camping in FebruaryCountry forums / Middle East / Jordan
Hi Everybody! I am going to Jordan and Syria next february and I was wondering how feasible is it to wild camp outside the main tourist places like the beaches of Aqaba, Petra, Karak, Dead sea during February? Is it a realistic option? and is it way too cold? has anyone experience it? Thanks a lot!
Wild camping isn't allowed in Jordan, except in Wadi Rum, and there are very VERY few official campsites. Hotels are cheap and in February it is likely to be pretty cold. Forget it! | 1
I agree with #1. The same is true fo Syria. You cannot camp outside of official campsites, which are far and few between. | 2
Thanks for your replies guys. But Ruth, you said that hotels are cheap and basically the question about wild camping followed your comment on your Jordan Jubilee that prices in Jordan are sky-rocketing? 30-40 JD a day. what would be a rock bottom budget for jordan and syria in February? Thanks a lot!!! | 3
Yes, you are right about the prices going up. But in February you should still be able to find hotels with single rooms for 15JD or so, and doubles for about 20-25. You might even get less, but I don't know what the accommodation would be like. | 4
Thanks Ruth! | 5 | |
