Which tour agency for Gorilla watching in Uganda

Country forums / Africa / Uganda

Hi,

I will be in Uganda in Feb/March 2014 and would love to do a Gorilla Tour.

However there are so many offers, anybody can recommend a company? I am a single person and would like to travel with people in my age (around 30 years old).

Has anybody experiences with Nomad Tours?

Thank you for your reply in advance,
Heike

I took a tour with gorillatours.com. Really enjoyed. Everything was well organized. If you want to do it with a group, Nomad is a reputable company but for me their tours look often very rushed.

The gorillas are great so do it!

You don't need to go on a specific gorilla tour. You must have a permit to see the gorillas, but you can obtain this independently through the Uganda Wildlife Authority www.ugandawildlife.org. Not exactly a world class website, but it can be worked with. If you don't want to book it yourself Uganda is full of travel agencies and tour operators ready to do this for you for a significant fee. If you're desperate for the group experience just google overland Africa, keeping in mind that you get what you pay for, it's not required to see the gorillas, and, if you choose this route, make sure they buy the permits in advance.
