what's the weather like in august?? And can i wander a bit?

So, im trying to figure out how to pack to dress... and to wander!

I am spending only 2 weeks august 15-27 in Uganda, and i will be briefly visiting a friends sister who is in Kampala.

I am wondering what i need in terms of raingear... what is the general weather like in areas such as.... jinja, Murchison, Lake Bunyonyi, Mgahinga Park.

Those are the bits that i am headed towards, and REALLY looking forward to it... WOW!

I am not making so many plans, and am not exactly particular about what i NEED to do or accomplish while i am there, i just want to experience the beauty of Uganda, however that unfolds in its short period of time!

Any words of advice on what to bring, what to pack, what to wear (or not to wear) as a woman???

And advice on being wander-y like? not so many plans??

It rains, usually early in the mornings, especially in Jinja/Kampala. Lake Bunyoni and Murchison Falls will be chilly at night and in the mornings. Bring a sweater and some pants. A waterproof jacket never hurts as well.

Have fun, Uganda is beautiful and friendly.

Pack for hot weather and take a lightweight waterproof. Don't wear short skirts, shorts or skimpy tops outside of tourist spots unless you want to attract a lot of attention and offend the locals.

Wandering is fine and a great way to see Uganda. Too many people on this forum seem to want to pin down their itinerary hour by hour but Uganda is a great place to go with the flow.

Enjoy it as it's a great country with great people.

hey,am david.jinja has been so hot for the last 2months and has i write to now its still hot.the water level at bujagali has been also down so the falls donot look beautiful.the new dam construction is gong on and its going to submagge the falls aswell.thanks .i will send you more about jinja.try on litte clothes/ shorts and t-shirts can work
