What has happened to these alternate technologies?

There was a lot of media hype about two new forms of atlernate energy last year that has been absent this year:
The Port Kembla wave enerhy power plant
The thermal power plant that was due to be built near Mildura (and would have been the world’s highest man-made structure).

Does anyone know what has happened?

Enviro Mission's solar tower has only reached the final feasibility stage. It appears that the wheels grind very slowly.
