Wedding venue in Amsterdam

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good wedding venue in Amsterdam? It's for a low key wedding to feed 80 - 90 people. I'm looking for a place that wont break the bank. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Everywhere I've found so far has been really expensive.

No idea if you speak Dutch, but this website has a lot of nice wedding venues. No idea if they list prices though... or what you consider affordable and expensive...

Can you please give us more information on what exactly you are looking for? How would you define a "low key wedding"? What sort/quality of food do you want to serve your guests, what facilities are you looking for (music, dance floor, outdoor terrace, you name it), can you give us an idea of what budget you're working with? Can you compromise on the location or does it absolutely have to be in (the center of?) Amsterdam?

Speaking from my own experience (we organized our wedding a couple of years ago in our hometown, not far from Amsterdam), it makes a lot of difference what expectations you have, so do ask for all the options once you've decided on a venue - we managed to bring down the actual expenses by 30% from the first quotes only by shopping around a bit and having a critical look at what we wanted and - more importantly, since those venue owners will happily convince you that you need to order more, more, more to make your wedding the greatest day of your life - what not.

Rent a big McDo's, that's really cheap. And save your money for a trip - and for the divorce later on ;-) Sadly enough, I know what I'm talking about...

Well, a_p, your suggestion may seem a bit unusual at first, but I do in fact know (or rather: I have known) a couple that got married at 8:30 a.m. on a Thursday (because they could marry for free at that time and day of the week) and then had their wedding meal at a McDrive on their way to their honeymoon destination somewhere along a Spanish costa.
To complete the story, they can also confirm that the second part of your advice is absolutely true - I believe they filed for divorce within a year.

Here is another map full of wedding locations. I have no idea which one is affordable in your budget but I guess it's true that everything's negociable.

I don't know when your wedding is but Huize Frankendael seems like a nice location (I've seen a few weddings as I was sitting there on the terrace having coffee). Tropenmuseum also seems like a very nice place.
But again I have no idea about prices.
