Hi Caroline,
I do not know any web site but have you heard of Berlitz CDs and tapes in dozens of languages, which are specifically made for tourists to meet their basic daily needs, in terms of communication with locals, for almost every situation possible. Bye.

I learnt some basic farsi from this website: http://www.easypersian.com

I've found the Rosetta Stone CD's quite useful.

They are a bit pricey (but available on torrent :) )

University of Texas has one of the best online resources here .

There are more listed at this site: http://farsilearnersnetwork.pbwiki.com/Online+Resources

And the unilang community have a pretty exhaustive collection.

Hi,

I recently noticed that Rosettta Stone CDs (pirated copies, ie) are relatively very cheap in Tehran, which one may buy for just $8-16 depending on the language. The Farsi version is actually a DVD and the most expensive of all in the language series, $16 that is. Bye.

Thought I'd chime in with this one; I thought it quite handy and comprehensive. There are MP3s as you go along.
