weather april in Oman

Hi all,

we are thinking of a 7 day trip to Oman first week April. I would like to know how the temperatures are at that time. We are used to heat ( live in south India at the moment), but want to avoid traveling in too hot weather. We are traveling with a 6 year old.

Can anyone tell me a budget we shall be spending minimim for 6 nights? We are not looking for 5*hotels, but clean and good hotels will do. Will rent a car. Had a look already on the web, just seems like Oman is for the high budget only, or am I wrong?

It will most definitely be 30C and above, with cooler nights.

As for hotels, the cheapest possible hotels in most cities (excluding Muscat) will be 15 OR (US$40) A car can be hired for $25/day, but it won't be 4X4. Food can be cheap. The ubiquitous rice and chicken might go for 1-1.5 OR ($2.50-$3.50).

Average day temp in early April in Muscat is early-mid 30'C and mid 20 at night.

For Hotels in Msucat it can vary according to stars, but for a mid range clean Hotel around 3 star, expect to pay around 40 rial. You can get exact price by contacting them direct. Renting a sedan car is relativle cheap, as mentioned above around 10-12 rial per day but for 4x4 probably double that.
Food and eating out can be cheap or expensive as you wanted it to be. If you eat from Indian/Pakistani coffee shops as mentioned above for 1.5 rial or for up-market western style restaurants for 10-15 rial and then few others in-between. Organised tours or similar are expensive and not good value, so if you drive yourself and see around without a guide should not be expensive. If you have any specific question let me know.

Unlikely you can find places for 15 OR/night. Maybe in Muscat, but then such places would not be suitable for a family with a small kid. Outside Muscat, hotels are scarce and rates are high.

I'm not sure I would travel with a 6 year old to Oman in April. We were there a couple of weeks ago and the temperatures were passable in most places, but the sun was very strong. the tempreture will not be much high, sunny & with good temp till now the weather nice and not cold nether not hot. under the sun will be good for laying on the beach thus days.

my suggestion to camp near the wadi where the fresh watar to swim and have chill, Oman is very cheap and intresting place to camp any where you like no one can tell you any things.

you can make it very cheap and easy trip and very intresting, 1. rentel 4WD 2. get mape then you can decide where you want and what kind of place you want 3. camps equipment is not expensive at all, at Carfor you will find every thing with resnable prise

i can Write alot about Oman but i thinks you don't have to listen what i write just come over and descover by your self
