Warning: Increased airport tax from Accra

Hi all, just to warn anyone flying out of Accra anytime soon that there has been an increase in airport tax (from $50 to $75 i think). This is not a problem if you bought your ticket relatively recently because it will have been included in the price, but I had bought mine in March and rocked-up at the airport with no money of any sort and BA staff were demanding $25 before they would let me on the flight. It got pretty unpleasant.

So if you can, check with your airline before you head to the airport or make sure you have $25 (or equivalent amount in cedi). BA claimed to have emailed me but that was untrue, and many other passengers also hadn't been notified. Some airlines are collecting (e.g. BA and i think KLM),others appear not to be (Alitalia).
