| adambc05:39 UTC05 Aug 2007 | Hi,
I'm starting to plan a walk from Nairobi to Nyeri in Feb 08. Does anyone know anything about this route? And I mean anything:
- Elevation changes - Road conditions - Distance by road - Any options to walk the route by other than the road (ie. walking tracks???) - Population centres en route - Accessibility of food and water en route - Security issues (if any) - Any other suggestions/tips
Thanks!
Adam

There are no short-cuts since it is direct from Nbi to Nyeri. Cycling might be the best option. The whole route is under human settlement. Some large shopping centres with almost all the basic needs. Elevation changes is minimal. Nairobi at 1660m and Nyeri at 1800m is not much. Security concern should be the first 40km from between nbi and Thika. Just use your common sense while trekking and avoid walking at night. All the best.

Just making initial enquiries at this stage. If and when plans firm up a little I'll go into more detail.
Why do you ask?
Cheers,
