Walking between Vienna an Bratislava

Hello,

My daughter and her three girlfriends would like to walk (40 miles-60 km) this summer between Vienna and Bratislava along the Danube.

Does anybody know how doable that is?
Can they walk all the way along the river or do they have to cross busy traffic?
Can you suggest a cheap guesthouse/camping in the middle of this journey?
Where could I get detailled maps of the walk? Tourist Office in Vienna? On Internet?

Any tips are very welcome.

(You can skip the introductory paragraphs of this article if you like, and start with "The walk began well...") The writer of the article went all the way to Budapest.

You don't need detailed maps as you can't possibly get lost following the river. (I've never done it, but a little common sense goes a long way - pardon the pun - here.)

For accommodation, look on a map and search on Google to see what accommodation is offered in towns along the way.

...or you can also buy the printed version othe official map, for that I recommend the Freytag&Berndt shop at Kohlmarkt in downtown Vienna (see http://www.freytagberndt.at/rtc-freytagberndt/849).
They are an excellent source for good maps. However, for the walk to Bratislava you will have to buy several sheets of the official 1:50.000 map.
